On June 9, my Grandpa Al died. He is truly one of the greatest men I have known. As my Aunt Patti said at the funeral, he was a grateful man. Grateful that his parents came to America from Scotland, grateful for his service in the Marine Corp during World War II where he established a faith in God, and grateful for marrying my Grandma who is another one of the people I admire most. They were married over 50 years before she died 6 years ago. They had a marriage that people strive for.
All because two people fell in love.
The Flag ceremony and gun salute were one of the most special experiences of my life.
